So what does writing have to do with marketing?

We are still a society driven the by written word. One of the reasons that I love to write, especially for smart companies, is that the right words can drive behavior and increase sales. We read online, we scan the news, we get feeds on our favorite blogs. Make no mistake that the written word is alive and well today, but in a new form and with a new face. In a world of multi-media and multiple channels on your hip, writing is alive and well.
There will always be a need for savvy writers to craft a story, captivate an audience, and motivate someone to do something. Every industry and every size company needs specialists who can communicate clearly, persuade successfully, and entertain brilliantly. If there is a trend for 2012 it’s that great content matters.
So next time you sit down to write and find it to be a task, look at it as a challenge instead. It can help you hone your critical thinking skills, prioritize your ideas and be your own best critic. And it just might help your bottom line.
